Valdosta Tour of Gardens

by Jessica Pope

Nothing says spring like a field full of daisies or a garden full of tulips, irises, daffodils, crocuses and hyacinths, like the vision of new life coming from the earth after the bitter cold of winter.

Two days after the first official day of spring, the Magnolia Garden Club sponsored a Valdosta Tour of Gardens to benefit the gardens of The Crescent. Highlights of the tour included a formal garden at The Crescent, a cottage garden encircling a house, a Charleston garden at one of the first townhouses in Valdosta, the garden at Doc Holliday’s house, an elegant enclosed garden, and a container garden at a large townhouse.

The following pages feature a collection of photos from the Valdosta Tour of Gardens and quotations about gardening and spring. We at Valdosta Scene magazine hope this pictorial fills you with joy and hope and excitement and a feeling of silliness you might have forgotten years ago.

Inspiration can spring up in the most unexpected places after all.
